Code of Conduct

Our shared expectations for students, families, and volunteers

Effective date: January 1, 2025

Vidyalaya is a community built on respect — for our heritage, for one another, and for the teachers and volunteers who give their time so our children may learn.

Students

  • Attend class prepared and on time
  • Treat teachers and classmates with respect
  • Participate actively and honestly — do not submit work that is not your own
  • Follow teacher instructions during class
  • Behave online as you would in person — the same standards apply

Parents and families

  • Support your child's attendance and preparation
  • Communicate absences in advance where possible
  • Raise concerns directly with the teacher or school coordinator — not in front of other students or families
  • Treat all Vidyalaya staff and volunteers with courtesy
  • Honor the volunteer nature of the school — patience and understanding are appreciated

Volunteers and teachers

  • Prepare and deliver lessons to the best of your ability
  • Treat all students fairly and with encouragement
  • Communicate absences and schedule changes to the coordinator promptly
  • Keep student information confidential
  • Follow all school policies, including those on media and communications

Consequences

Conduct that disrupts class or harms the experience of others will be addressed in steps: informal discussion, formal warning, and if necessary, suspension or removal from the program. The school will involve parents before taking formal action against a student.

Volunteers who do not meet these standards may be asked to step back from their role.
