Language Curriculum

ACTFL Accredited

Our language curriculum follows the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) proficiency framework — the same standard used by major universities and language certification programs. Students progress through six levels, gaining real conversational and literacy skills in their chosen language.

Culture Curriculum

Ten progressive levels taking students from foundational mythology and storytelling through a deep engagement with the Bhagavad Gita. Culture class meets alongside language class every Sunday, weaving together spiritual wisdom, devotional practice, and Indian heritage.

Level CKG

Kindergarten Culture

Introduction to Indian culture through age-appropriate stories and characters. Simple tales from Hindu mythology, basic prayers, and cultural celebrations.

Levels C1 – C3

Ramayana & Mahabharata

Accessible summaries of the two great epics. Students learn the key characters, moral lessons, and cultural significance of the Ramayana (C1–C2) and the Mahabharata (C3). Emphasis on storytelling, values, and connecting the narratives to everyday life.

Levels C4 – C6

Devotional Songs & Prayers

A deeper engagement with devotional practice. Students learn and memorize bhajans, stotras, and prayers — understanding their meaning, context, and significance. Includes weekly practice sessions and participation in the school's prayer assembly.

Levels C7 – C9

Bhagavad Gita — Selected Chapters

Introduction to the Bhagavad Gita, exploring selected chapters with age-appropriate commentary. Students examine core concepts — dharma, karma, devotion, and self-knowledge — and discuss how these principles apply to modern life.

Level C10

Advanced Gita Study

A rigorous, text-based study of the Bhagavad Gita at the senior level. Students work through the original Sanskrit verses with commentary, engage in structured discussion of philosophical themes, and develop their own synthesis of the Gita's teachings.
